| THE HOUSES There are twelve houses and their position is determined by your time of birth. The cusp of the first house is called your Ascendant and it represents that Eastern horizon at the moment of birth. In birth chart interpretation, each house represents people, issues or circumstances that challenge the planet(s) involved. FIRST HOUSE people or issues challenge you to set personal goals and take control over the direction you take in life. SECOND HOUSE people or issues bring awareness of your inner resources and challenge you to find security regardless of your material circumstances. THIRD HOUSE people or issues challenge your perceptions, biases and the manner in which you interact with your environment. FOURTH HOUSE people or issues may bring private matters into the open or challenge your ability to make your ideas or plans take root in the material world. FIFTH HOUSE people or issues challenge you to creatively express yourself and to pursue certain activities solely for the joy or pleasure they bring you. SIXTH HOUSE people or issues challenge you to pursue activities for the benefit of others or to acquire the skills and experience necessary to perform valuable service. SEVENTH HOUSE people or issues challenge you to see yourself through the eyes of an intimate partner or rival. EIGHTH HOUSE people or issues challenge your ability to find unconditional love and acceptance through your relationships with loved ones, your sexual partner and even your creator. NINTH HOUSE people or issues challenge you to expand your horizons by breaking free from the routine and seeking new challenges or experiences.
