E=mc2
Science teaches that energy and matter are the same. One can be converted to the other by
means of a mathematical constant. That constant is the speed of light.
Metaphysics teaches that our material world consists of energies. One can be converted to the
other by means of our consciousness (light). As we encounter the energies around us, our
consciousness enables us to perceive this energy as physical objects.
Can you see the connection? Light changes energy into matter. Consciousness (light) changes
energy into physical experience. Whether we are discussing physics or metaphysics, the process
is the same.
Relativity is the process by which consciousness (light) enables us to experience
energy as the material Universe (matter).
Recent scientific discoveries support this theory. Physicists have developed string theory which
states that the building blocks of the atom are subtle vibrations called strings. Science is proving
that atoms (matter) are merely orderly vibrations (energy). What they are trying to understand is
what causes the vibrations to organize themselves into atoms. I believe metaphysics has the
answer: consciousness. Light squared = consciousness.
Physics: energy = mass X light squared
Metaphysics: energy = material world X consciousness.
There is much misunderstanding between modern science and the ancients, especially where the
elements are concerned. The ancients referred to four elements: earth, water, air and fire.
Because modern science uses the term “elements” to refer to the building blocks of matter,
science assumes the ancients believed the physical world was made from physical earth, water, air
or fire. I don’t believe this was the case. I believe the ancients were referring to energy.
The energy field consists of vibrations in a wide range of frequencies. As humans, we experience
a limited range of those frequencies. Although we have developed sensitive instruments that can
detect frequencies outside of our normal range (such as infrared), our experience is still limited to
four basic frequencies that the ancients described as earth, water, air and fire:
Earth refers to the physical energy we experience through our senses. All the substances in the
Periodic Table of the Elements consist of Earth energy or vibrations. Earth is our figurative body.
Water refers to the emotional energy we experience through our feelings. This energy cannot be
measured as it is not physical, but our response to it can be measured. Water is our figurative
heart.
Air refers to the mental energy we experience as thought. Air consists of the symbols we use and
the relationships we assign objects or other beings. Air is our figurative mind.
Fire represents the spiritual energy we experience as insight or will. Fire is the expression of ego
or individulism. Fire is the figurative spirit.
It is this understanding that makes it possible to apply relativity to astrology:
Each of these energies exists in one of three states called modes (cardinal, fixed, mutable).
Each combination of energy and mode are represented by one of the 12 zodiac signs.
Energy equals the signs!
The next step is to identify mass, matter or material experience. We experience the material world
through one of the 12 houses. Matter equals houses!
Finally, we have light and consciousness. The planets represent different facets of consciousness.
Whether you call it awareness, urges, desire, needs; when we describe different planets we are
describing different facets of consciousness. Light equals the planets!
Physics: energy = mass X light squared
Metaphysics: energy = material world X consciousness
Astrology: signs = house X planet
If a horoscope is to be interpreted with any degree of accuracy, the interpretation must take our
natural laws into account. The laws which govern our physical universe (E=mc2) also govern the
process by which our thoughts create our reality. It only makes sense that these laws should be
applied to astrology.
IN PLAIN ENGLISH:
Let's move beyond the abstract and provide a practical approach to chart interpretation:
E=mc2
Energy = action. The signs represent behavior.
Material World = circumstances. The houses represents issues or circumstances relevant to
human experience.
Consciousness = awareness, desire. The planets represent your motives.
A planet (desire) resides in a house (the house becomes the object of that desire). Your sign
(behavior) will dictate how you seek to fulfill that desire..
E=mc2 can also be written as mc2=E or c2m=E. The latter is the format I use for chart
interpretation:
c2m=E: planet X house = sign: desire X object of desire = behavior
Let's consider an example before we move on . . .
Capricorn Moon in the 6th house
The Moon (desire) seeks approval and acceptance from others.
The 6th house (object of that desire) refers to skillful service performed on behalf of others.
The Moon is seeking to win approval by applying one's skills on behalf of others.
Capricorn (behavior) is striving after a specific role within society.
This individual seeks a position or role that will validate that others place a high value on his/her
skills, talents, service, workmanship or experience.
